- Apple iPad 2: Who should buy and who should pass - Blind fans of Apple products will still just go buy one, but this article is a good dose of reality on why you should or shouldn't get one.
- Oracle gives up on OpenOffice - At least the LibreOffice crew didn't think Oracle got open-source and forked, and Oracle was unable to stop it. Does Oracle not "get" open-source?

1.) I am not a blind fan. :-) I can actually see that all other products are crap. While tutoring someone recently on Linux use, I realized that it has been a long time since Bill Joy gave us BSD (and vi btw) and windows is still so very far behind. How is it a company that makes billions per month, can't compare with one guy in grad school? iPad - brilliant, all others - not. The best comparison would be if today you had a choice between a nice new 2011 SL500 or a 1982 K Car with both being the same price. That's about the difference.
ReplyDelete2.) Oracle gives up? I wish I knew the inside story. Now I hope the LibreOffice crew know what to do next and how to pull in other biggies to help the cause. Freedom!
